State Treasurer John Perdue presented a $5,000 check Tuesday to the Jackson County Development Authority, during a ceremony at authority headquarters on Seneca Drive.
”It’s a great thrill and privilege to return these needed funds to such a vital community organization,” the Treasurer said. “We in my office gain great satisfaction in serving groups that serve so many others.”
Unclaimed property is any asset from which an individual has become separated. Examples include a forgotten utility deposit, a forgotten last paycheck or uncashed stock dividends.
Treasurer Perdue’s office has returned approximately $160 million to state residents during his five terms in office.
